LAW LIBRARIES

The libraries of the Department of Justice, the Supreme Court of Tasmania, the Magistrates Court of Tasmania, and the Law Society of Tasmania were integrated by agreement of their participating organizations from January 2001.

The staffed libraries included in this agreement are:

• 3 integrated libraries which are accessible to all client groups and the general public, in Hobart, Launceston, and Burnie; and
• 2 working collections; and
• a number of branch collections for the use of specific client groups.

The budget and policies of the integrated libraries are determined by a Management Committee which is made up of:

• the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or his nominee;

•  the Chief Magistrate or his nominee;

• the Secretary of the Department or his nominee;

• the President of the Law Society or his nominee;

• a member of the Law Society from either northern Tasmania or north-western Tasmania

• the Library Manager.
